How the Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme (TTSS) works

The Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme is a docket system. TTSS provides a subsidy of up to half the metered fare, to a maximum of $60 subsidy per trip. Only one travel docket can be used per journey.

When you apply for TTSS you will be sent dockets specific to your needs. When you travel, hand the driver a completed docket for 50% of the fare up to $60. You pay the remaining fare.

For example: if the metered fare is $80, you can use the travel docket for $40 and you pay the remaining $40 yourself. If the metered fare is $140, you can use the travel docket for the maximum of $60, and you pay the remaining $80 yourself.

It's also important to note that as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) rolls out across NSW, the scheme will not change the way customers use their TTSS dockets. For more on the NDIS go to www.ndis.gov.au/nsw or call 1800 800 110.

Book a taxi

You can book conventional taxis by calling a local operator, online or in the street. To book a Wheelchair Accessible Taxi for the Sydney metropolitan area call 02 8333 0200 or go to the Zero200 website.

Reorder a travel docket book

To get a new book of dockets:

Take a Wheelchair Accessible Taxi

A Wheelchair Accessible Taxi (WAT) has been modified to safely accommodate at least one wheelchair. If you are a TTSS participant and need a wheelchair at all times for mobility away from home, you may travel by WAT.

TTSS travel dockets that permit travel by WAT have an account number starting with either “08” or “09” (for example, 08123123). The account number is located at the bottom of each docket.

If you need to change your dockets so you can use a WAT, contact the Scheme's administrative office to get a mobility change request form.

Regular TTSS travel dockets cannot be used outside of NSW except for the border towns of Albury-Wodonga, Echuca-Moama, Tweed Heads-Coolangatta and Cobram-Wahgunyah.
