Concession fares for veterans
Veterans are entitled to a range of free travel and concession fares on NSW transport services. Concession cards and passes include:
- Ex-Members of Defence Forces Transport Concession Entitlement Card and optional free travel Opal card – for ex-members of the defence forces with service-related disabilities
- NSW Blinded Soldier Pass and optional free travel Opal card – for ex-members of the defence forces with vision impairment
- World War 1 Veterans' Widows Free Pass and optional free travel Opal card – for widows of WW1 veterans; recipients of the Victoria Cross and the George Cross and their spouses or widows/widowers.
- NSW War Widow/ers Concession Card and and Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card – for war widows and widowers.
Concession fares for people with disabilities
If you are a person with an eligible disability and travel with an attendant or an assistance animal, there are permits and concession cards that will help you to use NSW public transport. For more information, see concessions for people with disabilities
Accessing taxi travel
NSW residents with severe and permanent disabilities who are unable to use public transport may qualify for subsidised taxi fares. For more information, see Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme.
