If you're a regular train commuter, you can now use Twitter to receive real-time personalised alerts about disruptions to your trip on the Sydney Trains and NSW Trains intercity networks.
As part of a trial, you can customise alerts by nominating the stations you travel between and the times that you usually travel.
Alerts will only be sent if a major disruption affects your journey. For instance, if you travel from Kogarah to the city for work between 7am and 8am, you will only receive notifications during that time frame about major disruptions between your nominated stations.
The trial, which launched in December, is the first of its kind in Australia. If the technology proves successful, we will look to extend the alert service for buses, ferries and light rail.
Trackwork or planned service changes will not be included. Continue to check Status alerts
for disruptions across all public transport services.
